    Hello,

I am working around the area and was looking for things to do tomorrow daytime as I have it off. I found information on your garden but noticed it is only open to the public once a year? Am I correct or is there any chance at all to be able to look around tomorrow? (Monday 5th Feb) I understand if this is not possible but would love to see.

    Many thanks,
    Daniel

Hi Daniel, Normally the garden is closed to the public except for one day a year (the Sunday of the first bank holiday in May). On occasions we do open for large group tours, but we cannot currently accommodate them as there has been a lot of damage following some winter flooding and frost.
      Kind regards,
      John

    Hi Alberto,
As a small private garden we don’t offer any transport for people coming to the open day. If you don’t have a car parking space booked, the best way to reach the garden is by taking the train to Dumfries and getting a taxi.
    Regards,
    John

Hi Jackie, we have ordered 40 toilets for the opening on Sunday. Most of them will be in car parking fields, but there will be some throughout the garden.

Are dogs allowed to come on the open day?

Are there any seats in the garden, that less able people can rest for short periods?

    Hi Libby,
We say on the eventbrite ticketing site that the gardens are not wheelchair accessible. The landforms are almost entirely moss (rather than grass) and with the rain we have had recently, they are very susceptible to damage by wheels with any weight on them.
That being said, there are areas of the garden from which the landforms can be viewed which are wheelchair accessible and if you are able to walk short distances you should be able to see most things.
I hope this is of help and I’m sorry not to be able to offer more. We are a private garden that opens once a year for charity and as such our infrastructure is not like that you would find at a public or National Trust garden.

Dear Valerie, I’m afraid after the problems we had last year where over 3000 people turned up without a ticket, we have had instigate a policy of ticket sales only in advance.
I’m sorry but we have to enforce this as the roads around the garden cannot handle the traffic. Last year I got quite a stern talking to be the police and I can’t let it happen again.

    Hello,
I’m currently in Dumfries with my grandad, dad and partner. Without realising that you’re only open one day a year we drove around today trying to find it and we were gutted to find out there was no entry.
We are only here until Saturday, I was wondering if there is any chance of a viewing as I have seen that sometimes that can happen. We would love to come and see it in person.
    Thank you,
    Becky Lee

      Dear Becky Lee,

I’m sorry I was on holiday when you sent this message so didn’t receive it until now. I’m afraid we are not currently having people round to view the garden.
      Best,
      John
